I did not have MS but had a bunch of other chronic illnesses and chronic pain. I suffered in horrible pain for 6 years before studying mind/body connection techniques and law of attraction methods for healing. Now 15 months later I have no illnesses and no pain. I detail methods in my ebook but have a did a quick post on it on a friend's site:
http://www.thenext45years.com/2008/02/self-healing-using-the-law-of-attraction.html
I usually sell my ebook but give it out whenever someone wants it and cannot afford it... I know firsthand how chronic illness can eat into financial stability. You are welcome to contact me at jennymannion@yahoo.com if you would like a copy. I am also a mind/body mentor. I was told I would never be well again and doctors kept giving me more diagnoses and more prescriptions. I can't guarantee my methods will heal you but on my journey since I have healed I have met people that said they have healed themselves of MS using mind/body techniques. At the very least it will teach you coping skills and minimize pain to as little as it CAN be without meds.... I am all for meds to supplement if need be. No one should have to suffer in chronic pain -- I was there -- it is not a fun place to be. I wish you all the best for your healing. Love, Jenny

BoSnr,
I am a Nurse. I have cared for many patients with MS. I do know that there is daily hope, literally as new treatments arrive. You probably already know that everyone is affected differently. The symptoms are at times worse than at others. Many people do quite well. I have also had two friends who were diagnosed with MS. One, a good family friend who is in her 80's. She was diagnosed 30+ years ago. Another diagnosed about 20+ years ago. He has a family and has remained active.
There is investigation into a vaccine that alters the course of MS, and the findings were presented in October 2007. Clinical trials will be launched at the end of 2008. Here are exerpts from the preliminaries - again, everyday brings something new to the table. I would point you to the link, but I believe you have to be a medical professional to register and view, but it is from Medscape if you wish to register and search their articles.

October 8, 2007 — A newly developed DNA vaccine appears to fundamentally alter the disease course of multiple sclerosis (MS) in patients with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS).

This is a significant step in advancing one of the first antigen specific therapies for use in the clinic. We're a step closer to providing MS patients with a treatment that fundamentally alters the course of the disease," vaccine inventor Hideki Garren, MD, PhD, from Stanford University, in Palo Alto, California, and Bayhill Therapeutics, told Medscape.

Invented by Dr. Garren and 3 other colleagues at Stanford, BHT 3009 offers several advantages over established MS treatments such as beta interferon. Most important, rather than targeting the entire immune system, BHT-3009 targets only disease-causing antigen-specific T-cells that attack the myelin.

In addition, he said, the drug's dosing schedule is only once per month. In contrast, beta interferon treatment protocols range from every other day to once per week. Furthermore, adverse effects, including flulike symptoms, associated with beta interferon can make it difficult to tolerate. In contrast, he said, the tolerability of BHT 3009 is "excellent."

The study was funded by Bayhill Therapeutics Inc.

I often tell my patients to search for clinical trials to see if they would like to participate. You could explore this by ,contacting Bayhill Therapeutics for more information about their study, if this is something that would interest you. You could also speak with your doctor about participating in clinical trials. Either way, the news is good.

My mom's friend's husband was diagnosed with MS a little over a decade ago. When he found out, he took up typing to kind of keep his fine motor skills as long as possible. I'd say you should also start a hobby like that, maybe knitting or something that you can take with you wherever you go. Of course, smelling the flowers with us is good too!

Hi Bo Snr. Here
I would like to thank all the flower smellers for their help and comments.
I am under the care of The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Liverpool UK, and have a dedicated MS Nurse Specialist.
They admit that every patient is unique and all they do is try all the usual treatments to help me get on with life.
It helps having a wonderful family of Bo's
Thanks again
Bo Snr.

Hello EmmaF
Thanks for the offer. In the UK there is plenty of information available from the MS Society and the MS Trust.
They are easy to follow and written in plain language so I dont get headaches.
Thanks again, Bill Bo Snr
