Best Trips Ever!?

Posted 3 years ago #

My mom's been after me for us to take a little vacation for months. I'm a tightwad, I admit it. But, it's looking like we'll probably head to Southern Ohio in the warmer months to visit family, tour the pretty small towns and check out a basket factory. Not the most exciting vacation by far.

It got me wondering who's had the best trip ever on here. Since we are supposed to be flower smellers, touring the world. Why don't you drop in and let us know what vacation or trip you've enjoyed the most and why?

In the USA, I guess my best trip ever was when we lived in Tampa, FL and the whole family plus a friend went to Busch Gardens. It was especially nice because my two sons worked there, and we got some neat perks--like not waiting lines, getting to meet cast members of Morrocan Roll--it was a great day.

Outside of the US, far and away my best trip(s) have been to Egypt. I am now embarling on my third "permanent" move there. I did it twice before when the kids were in school but it was just too hard for them. It wasnt a language barrier because they spoke that, but the schools are so advanced in Egypt, my kids were doing work 2-4 years above their levels. But now the kids are grown and out of the nest and my mother and I just decided--what the heck--let's move. And so we are.

It's an amazing place--it changes you forever--becomes part of your blood and soul. The Egyptians have an expression...One who drinks from the Nile must return...and it is true. I just cant stay away. Ohhhhhh, dont get me started!

Wow... where to start.
Over in the US, the only real place to be is Chicago. It;s like NYC with the volume at a reasonable level.

In Europe, Tuscany is amazing, I spent many a happy time buying great wine in Montalcino, and Montepulciano. Also Verona is beautiful with amazing restaurants and is great as a base for day trips to Milan or Venice.

Other than that, scuba diving in Hurghada in Egypt was simply awesome so I have to agree with Her Majesty QueenODNile, as was shark diving near a small rock off the north coast of Mauritius.

North Korea was not what you'll call a traditional holiday but it was certainly unique, not least for the visit to the border where the South Korean side spent the whole time photographing us and monitoring us with binoculars. Not many people can claim to have stood in both Korea's at the same time and wandered around the most heavily militarised border in the world.
I probably have a CIA file by now - living in China and holidaying in North Korea it should be fun trying to get through immigration if I ever visit the US again.

Inspirational places folks - a great bunch we have here...

We're planning a cattle ranching break in the US / Canada in May and are really looking forward to it coupled with, perhaps a stop in Cuba, maybe via Miami or Canada!

Epcot...my grandfather paid for all 10 of the family to go. I had a blast looking at everything, but the trip was too short and too many people with different things to see and we stayed as a group. I loved being with my family. I want to return with my husband on a leisurely trip to Florida...he would love Epcot, he is an Engi-nerd. Try different foods. Go to see other sites such as the Tupperware museum, if it is still there!!!

Oh, goodness. Let me think. I tend to move places, rather than take trips, but I've done a few (yes, a few!) cross-country road trips in the US, and they've all had their own little moments of loveliness. Crossing the Mississippi for the first time, pondering the kudzu in Georgia, wallowing in the vast emptiness of Wyoming, spending the night on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

Outside the US, the summer I spent working in Jamaica was nice. Or the day getting lost in Seoul or Easter in Rome with the Pope (well, seeing the Pope - I didn't exactly hang out with him)...goodness, I can't pick one best trip. I love travelling in general. It's the going that's great.

changes do happen. I know they are the trace of time , adidas f50 adizero, irresistible and inevitable. the moment I saw my father I should not recognize him.I know he is getting old ,but returning home after more than 4moths,the symptoms of old should have grown beyond my imagination. I felt guilt and regret. I know I am the killer who take away his strength and youth.apparently he was pleased that I arrived so early and brought presents for them. when I was young I always thought he was some kind of tyrant , stern and severe.Nike Mercurial Vapor, I thought he was not approachable and touching.while with years passing by, in the process of my growing up and his getting old , these impression fades and instead it is replaced by words as gentle caring and loving . he played cheese and badminton with me, he would sing with me , he cooked for me , he chat with me , he is tolerant of me.my dear father and all my families , I say sorry for my past fault , I know sometimes I just easily surrender myself to the various temptation, and lose myself and my way. but believe me , I just easily surrender myself to the various temptation, and lose myself and my way. football boots, but believe me ,my experience is added over time and I can preserve my values and trace my path to maturity
