Author Interviews: Who would you like to see interviewed?

Posted 3 years ago #

As part of my blog, The View From Here, I interview authors - the latest being two times Booker nominated Julian Barnes.

So at the moment I have no-one lined up and am pondering who to contact.

So flower smellers what authors would you like to see interviewed ( they have to be alive! )

Let me know ...

G'Day Mike

Oh what a question......
So many fav so little time..... :)
well apart from JK Rowlings herself.. whom I think is great role model and terrifc author.. being a huge HP Fan...
And the fact that I love Bryce Cortney...
But the one I would like to see is the Author Of the Thorn Birds, The First Man in Rome, An Indescent Obsession to name of a few Colleen McCullough... She is going blind ... from a disease and lives on Norflok Island Australia... a facinsating female author... which I thought would be interesting as you have interviewed a few blokes...

I'd thought about Stephen King - One of his books "On Writing" really helped me start editing my own work - so I just might ask him ! Cheers Funkygirl :-)

I'd like to have interviewed Frank Herbert. To have come up with the Dune sequence and all the intricate quirks and politics of this universe spanning hundreds of thousands of years is surely one of the great literary feats of the 20th century. However he's not alive anymore.

I think to interview Neil Gaiman and/or Alexi Sayle would be interesting and highly entertaining. Both are informed, clever and very funny writers who have provided me some of my enjoyable reads. Charles Higson would also be fun but I'm only really interested in how he came up with the storyline in 'Getting rid of Mr Kitchen' simply the funniest novel I've ever read bar none.

I hope you do ask Stephen King for an interview. It never hurts to ask. Read 'On Writing' too, and it's a great book. The best book about the process of writing that's as much like a personal memoir as you could get!

Frank Herbert is an interesting choice Gareth although I can see why you'd pick him for his creation of a universe filled with politics. :)

FunkyGirl: Sent off a letter today - not sure if it will reach him - but heh - you never know!

Gareth - I really like Neil Gaiman's work - I'll put him down on the list to ask him in the future. Good suggestion.

Latest author to agree to be interviewed:

James Meek of The People's Act of Love which won the 2006 Scottish Arts Council Book of the Year Award, and the 2006 Ondaatje Prize.
His latest book, We Are Now Beginning Our Descent is out now.

Still waiting on JK !

changes do happen. I know they are the trace of time , adidas f50 adizero, irresistible and inevitable. the moment I saw my father I should not recognize him.I know he is getting old ,but returning home after more than 4moths,the symptoms of old should have grown beyond my imagination. I felt guilt and regret. I know I am the killer who take away his strength and youth.apparently he was pleased that I arrived so early and brought presents for them. when I was young I always thought he was some kind of tyrant , stern and severe.Nike Mercurial Vapor, I thought he was not approachable and touching.while with years passing by, in the process of my growing up and his getting old , these impression fades and instead it is replaced by words as gentle caring and loving . he played cheese and badminton with me, he would sing with me , he cooked for me , he chat with me , he is tolerant of me.my dear father and all my families , I say sorry for my past fault , I know sometimes I just easily surrender myself to the various temptation, and lose myself and my way. but believe me , I just easily surrender myself to the various temptation, and lose myself and my way. football boots, but believe me ,my experience is added over time and I can preserve my values and trace my path to maturity
